This book is wonderful. I’ve always enjoyed Karen’s books, but to my mind this is her best yet.
Set in and around Barga, Italy’s most Scottish city, during the allied advance on Northern Italy during WW2, The Sound of the Hours is peopled with wonderful characters who must face the terrifying consequences of war, and their split allegiances.
A love story to humanity with all its many colours, faces and beliefs. Highly recommended.
